A question though: what are your thoughts about how the person who has the Printing Mailbox would feel knowing someone could see all of their incoming email traffic, even if it was just sender and subject line? Couldn't this be looked at as an invasion of privacy? It's an important issue and worthy of discussion on PrestoPlace.

I thought about the privacy aspect.  Perhaps the recipient could grant authorization.

Another perspective worth debating is what "rights" are afforded to the Account Manager; I have not seen any delineation of this, so perhaps there would be merit to specifying what these rights are...  (and whether or not it would include access to view the queue &/or reviewing the content).  This would be one place where the mailbox user could grant viewing rights to the Account Manager.

Basically, someone was forwarding a bunch of stuff to a presto mail address. It would be useful for the account holder to view the queue and delete out junk that would be unwanted anyway. Not the end of the debate, but a +1 reason why account holders should be able to manage the queue. 

On the privacy thing,

This is sort of like the "power of attorney" for the email,  I bought the presto and pay the monthly service fee, and maintain everything else for the Presto.    Personally I was surprised that as an admin that I had no way of viewing the stream, or at least the headers.  I don't intend to pry and frankly don't expect any email that I couldn't be privy to.

My paradigm is what I figure is similar to many others using presto for loved ones:

I am enabling my parents to be included in the email stream of the greater family and any tool that I can have to include them more is useful to me.   For example, we have been using Presto for a while and I need to know which sibling to "encourage" to participate more in getting mails to the parents. 

Over the weekend Mom commented that she wakes up every morning hoping there is an email there for her!!!!    She has been sending back "regular" US mail replies to the grandkids that are sending her email, seems to be working for her.

I agree with budsboy. I set up the service and am paying for it. It would be nice to be able to check the queue (senders and subject lines only) for a variety of reasons, but mostly for troubleshooting. I am not worried about inappropriate emails coming in (since that is the purpose of the whitelist of course). However, I too would like to encourage other siblings to send emails and I'd like to be sure mom IS getting emails (meaning SOMEBODY/ANYBODY is sending her something. Believe me, with the round the clock attention my mom needs from me and my siblings, privacy is long gone!!!

This functionality is on our roadmap. I don't yet have a specific date, but it will be something you will see in 2008 (hopefully early).

How about publishing your "roadmap" so we can have visibility into the prioritizations and sequence of upcoming features...  I suspect that feedback on the roadmap and your strategic direction would enable the Presto Team to know that they are devoting resources where thy are most desired.

I think it would be very useful if as the Account Manager, I could see the "Date of Last Message" and number of messages sent for each Presto Friend in the list of Friends.  We try to encourage family and friends to send messages to my mother, who has the printing mailbox.  If I could see the useage history, I'd be able to determine which Presto Friends are using the system and who needs some additional encouragement.  I don't need to see the actual messages, just the "Date of Last Message" and message count would do.

Greeno's post of Oct 7 2007 makes a lot of sense. Being able to see the queue and recent usage history would be helpful. It would also be nice if the account manager could get a delivery receipt to make sure messages are getting through.

We agree with Budsboy, we pay for the system, manage the system, and it sure would be nice to be able to view the queue for Grandma, and GREAT Grandma appropriate traffic. It will be a very much appreciated feature.
