I'd really like to see a counter on the admin site of how many emails are queued and processed during the last connection. We are apparently at the mercy of "rural" phone service, and sometimes it connects, sometimes it doesn't. Knowing whether there are pending and processed emails will allow us long-distance-admins to know whether we have a problem or not.

Dear Julie, You recently sent an email to grammacorinne@presto.com with one or more attachments. Unfortunately, at least one of the attachments could not be printed properly. The above message was sent to a Friend of my Mother. Unfortunately, she did not send any attachments, only an email. And my Mother said she did not receive the email from Julie. I checked Julie's email address against my Mother's Friends list and it is perfect. Any idea what is going on here? Mark MacGuidwin

About a month ago I ordered the Presto printer, and a full year of Presto service, for my elderly parents. I was tremendously enthusiastic about the whole idea. I asked a bunch of questions here so that I would be well prepared. I went to Staples and bought extra supplies. I talked it up among friends and relatives. Well, that first effort was a disaster. Customer service was rude and misleading, and pretty much wasted a full day (11 hours!) of my time. I was then turned over to someone at corporate headquarters who was lots nicer and much better informed. But there were problems there too. It took three days to decide that the printer was defective. (Three days?) When I asked that he delay a week in sending me a second printer -- for two very good reasons, which I stated in detail -- he ignored that request. Then a family member decided to interfere, contacting the company behind my back. I complained bitterly about this to the man with whom I had been corresponding. Through another careless misunderstanding on his part, he ended up sending a copy of the bitter email to the family member!!! (It still...

This won't be a priority, I realize, but perhaps it could be implemented sometime in the future. The calendar idea is a nice one. But it won't really help my parents to have a calendar that has no information on it. What would be really nifty would be a calendar that had birthday, anniversary, graduation, vacation, etc. information on it. Where I could enter the info that on, say, August 10 it will be Billy's 10th birthday; and that Jim and Joanne plan to visit on August 21st. That would be a real plus!

where can I get a converter?

I thought I had found a digital-to-analog converter to use with the Presto and Qwest digital phone service, so I ordered the Presto. Then I went to order the converter and I noticed a PDF users manual; looked at that and found that the converter is not to be connected directly to the wall phone jack (it goes between the phone & the handset), so I guess it's unusable for this application. Already tried Best Buy and Radio Shack stores. They don't have a clue. Since so many telephone systems around the country are now digital, why doesn't Presto have a digital version, or at least offer a converter as an acccessory? I've been working on this project all week, and this is where I've ended up ... a Presto on order and possibly no way to use it. So, is there any place I can buy one of these converters so the Presto will work for my mom?

Registration of friends is cumbersome....it prevents friends from passing on the Presto Owner's email addres to others... how about if an unknown sender's email comes in, it bounces to the administrator who can then "ok" or "reject" the sender....if "ok", the email goes thru AND the sender is automatically registered...the admin could then go in later to add phone number, name etc if desired....love the device....DEP

In our recent upgrade to our platform, we've introduced some new features, and I'd like to introduce you to how they work. Rating Content Items First, we've added the ability to rate other content on the site, such as individual forum threads. You'll also be able to see average user ratings for each content item. Go right ahead and start rating your favorite content items, and help other community members find the best stuff! Update And Personalize Your Profile Second, we've upgraded the profile screen, and added the availability of some great custom options. Here's what you'll now be able to do: Add your Twitter username Add your YouTube ID Add your Flickr account All of these will be visible when other community members view your profile. In addition, you'll also be able to select the country you live in, and your country's flag will be proudly displayed next to your avatar! Groups We've also enhanced the Groups section of the site.
Questions?

1) Is there any way to test drive the software to see how it actually works? 2) I want to set up a calendar for an elederly parent. It needs be multi month, to contain dates, appointments, travel plans, etc, be saved somewhere so that multiple family members in different parts of the country can access it & add info, and have it transmit periodically to the Parent using Presto. Am I correct that yr software (eg calendar styles) does NOT do this? Any suggestions how to accomplish...EASILY! Outlook has a calendar. How about other on-line calendars? 3) How much noise does the dialer make when dialing out? Is it like the beep, beep, beep of a computer modem dialer (ie objectionable) or silent? 4) If I email the Parent, can I also cc other family members? This could be answered if thre was a demo of the software but I can find no such thing. Thanks...product looks appealing but must get this info first. DEP

Question about space (and siblings) :-)

Hello, Presto-ites, I'm on the verge, I'm sure, of buying the necessary HP printer and signing up for Presto service for my parents, ages 82 and 86. They spend most of the day, on most days, in my father's single room in the nursing care section of their retirement community. It's not tiny, but space is at a premium. So that's my first question -- how much space does the whole package take up? Has anyone found a really nifty way of dealing with the space issue? Second, I'm anticipating some criticism from one or more grown siblings for unilaterally making this purchase and installing it. (I don't dare ask for their agreement first because I truly fear that they won't give it.) Has anyone else run into this? Any suggestions for dealing with it? I guess I'll just say that I've shouldered all the expense and if no one uses it, we can always remove the printer and no harm done. But still - any experiences to relate? I'll be the account manager for my parents, but one brother who lives much closer to them will probably have to look after paper and ink supplies. So that might be...

Presto use with "Comcast Digital Voice" - VOIP

My 78 year old Mom has decided she can't handle the computer any more. I'd like to simplify things for her and to that end I'd like to consolidate some of her bills and get her a Presto Email Printer. Right now she's getting a bill from Comcast for cable TV, a bill from Verizon for local telephone (and DSL), and a bill from AT&T for long distance. Scrapping the DSL and getting Comcast Digital Voice seems like an ideal solution except the Presto FAQ clearly states that Presto will not work with VOIP (and, if I'm not mistaken, Comcast Digital Voice is VOIP). So I'm wondering.... is the FAQ up to date? Are all VOIP implementations incompatable with Presto? If not, has anyone has success using Comcast Digital Voice with Presto? Thanks!

Greetings, As many of you have seen, the PrestoPlace Community has undergone several updates and improvements over the last few months. As we continue to evolve this innovative and original approach to our community software platform, we hope you find many of the changes and enhancements enjoyable and useful. I would also like to say that as we continue to try new ideas, we really value feedback from you, our users. Not all of the changes we've made over the last year have made people do cartwheels and backflips out of pure joy, but we always have our ears perked up to hear your thoughts and make this community work exactly how you want. The vast majority of changes I'll talk about below are inspired by the feedback we've gotten, so please keep those suggestions and calls for improvements coming. So without further adieu, let's get to the updates! This time it's all about the forums and comments, and I (personally) think you'll all love what's new. Single Thread, Single Topic First the biggest change of all... After much feedback, the concept of multi-dimensional forum threads is going away, meaning that threads will no longer be multi-tagged to forum topics....
