A “gift for dad” chronicled through an Amazon.com review by S. Johnson in Dallas, Texas. This person captures the benefit of Presto’s email machine for seniors better than anything we could say.

Lack of response from Customer Service

I'm disappointed that I had to post an additional item on the prestoplace forum; was hoping I could resolve with presto's customer service team. My parents machine died in late July, presto sent a new power cord (which I have told customer service did not fix the problem), and I have not received a reply to several emails asking for next steps to address the issue. In the meantime, I continue to pay for the service without the ability to use the machine. I attempted to use the CEO's direct email address that was listed in another forum to no avail. Disappointed is about all I can muster at this point - I get no response from customer service, and I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do next, short of shelling out another $120 for a new machine (which was, interestingly, the first suggestion Presto offered when I called the customer service department). Any suggested remedies from other forum members would be greatly appreciated.

Here's an excerpt from the April 28, 2008 blog entry: "...And it’s been a life saver for us. I received an HP printer in the mail and sent it off to her dad in Ohio. We pay a monthly service fee and it gives us an email address to send stuff to him (less than $10 a month, which is lower than most ISP services.) It formats anything we send automatically and no spam can be sent. You can even choose the times that it delivers and prints the emails or pics. And there’s no limit to how much you can send them each month." In addition, the blog is running a contest in which you can win your very own Presto!
Complaints turned to Congrats!

Everything I've read has been great about the Presto service. However, our experience is not so wonderful. We bought my mother a Presto email machine for Christmas and set it up 2 days in advance. I spent 3 days on & off of the phone with the Presto Team. Though the machine would sometimes dial out when forced, it would not call out automatically. It was decided that the machine was defective so it was returned. Now we have a new one. I was able to talk Mom through the setup. It wouldn't work. To make a long story shorter, we got it to call out once last night after a reset and it called out once automatically. Now it has missed the next two call times. I am living in another state and don't really want to have to drive there to resolve this issue. Has anyone else had problems that were eventually resolved. What did it take? It's very frustrating to just keep pulling the plug. Then waiting, then forcing a dial, then waiting some more. And to follow up on our Presto problem.... Peter Radsliff contacted me right away and got everyone in the Presto Team involved...

Martha LOVES Presto!

On December 19, 2007, Presto was featured on The Martha Stewart Show. And, the PrestoInsider (yours truly) was on-air in addition to the HP Printing Mailbox. Martha's supervising producer Deb Savo has been using Presto with her parents for about a year. She tells her story to the audience and we all get to see her darling son Julian. Martha talks about how she loves Presto. If any of you PrestoPlace members would like to see a video clip of the show segment, just visit: http://tinyurl.com/2opmd7 Note: We at Presto were all sad to hear that Martha Stewart's Mom passed away in December of 2007.

Testimonial: So Far, So Good!

I set up the Presto printing mailbox for my 83 year old mother this week. We have a large family scattered all over the country (9 brothers and sisters plus 13 nieces and nephews). Naturally it's great for my mother to be receiving letters and pictures from everyone. Honestly, though, this is just really convenient for the rest of the family. Let's face it. Darn few people write letters anymore (unfortunately), but most of us think nothing of popping off a quick email. This way the family can send mom a note on the fly. I think this will make it a lot easier for us all to keep in touch with her. So far a number of siblings have sent notes, which is wonderful for my mom. Buying Process: I ended up lucking out on a great deal with this. I wish I had realized at the time just how great it was. I would have bought a few more (and ebayed any I didn't end up using!). I got mine for $30 at buy.com on the day after Thanksgiving. Haven't seen a deal like that since then. Account Setup: The online setup was pretty easy. The only challenge...

Parents enjoying Presto

Recently purchased and connected a Presto for my parents and they are enjoying it. They are Depression Babies both 80+ and they were not interested in using a computer, but Presto is working perfectly for them. The family consists of 8 adult children and 14 grandkids (mostly young adults) plus all of the spouses, boyfriends, girlfriends etc, all of whom are widely spreadout within the US, all on-line. We are all trying to send at least one note a week to them via Presto.... The family utilizes Yahoo Groups to manage a family focused email list, originally established to communicate effectively during a serious illness that Mom went through. The mail list has morphed to a sharing and gathering planning forum. We are sharing birthday, prom and graduation pictures etc as well as everyone posts pictures of their Christmas trees, which is always fun. There are also Birthday and anniversary calendar reminders. With presto we have now added Mom and Dad to the mail list and they are now sharing in all this family news. Working fantastically!!!!!! The longer term hope is that we will eventually move them to real email so that they could reply. (Hint hint to Presto...
