Started Presto service for my dad in the summer of '07; he loved it but about 6 months ago, the printer died. He lost phone service and called the local phone company for repair; a +$100 service call later, the service tech determined the printer was killing the phone line. I was not able to go see him until recently, and sure enough, as soon as I connect the printer to the phone line and plug in the AC adapter, the printer creates an "off the hook" condition on the phone line! Has anyone seen this before? On the back of the printer, I removed a small panel covering a USB jack; can the software be re-loded into the printer?

This is a strange issue indeed. I know that the Presto Printer, of course, is designed to live in harmony with your phone system. Truthfully, I'm not convinced that the Presto Printer is causing your problem. One way or another, I would contact Presto's tech support to see if they are familiar with this issue.

Sorry, I didn't see this post at all! My first comment is that this can't happen. However, I wonder if your printing mailbox was fried, possibly by a lightning strike and subsequent electrical surge? But we warranty the machines and will send you a new one. Just send me an email at ceo.direct@presto.com and I'll have my head of customer service take care of you.
