I have a problem with Presto screwing up the telephone line.  Here's what happened:

A new presto was unpacked, installed, plugged into a power source and an analog telephone line.  It made the initial telephone call to presto.com and printed out a sheet with a security-code/password to initiate the account.   The code was entered and accepted via the presto.com website.  Everything looked great except that the telephone line into the house was now unavailable.  Static is heard on the telephone line when you pick up any of the handsets.  The presto is unable to initiate a call to collect email.

Unplugging presto from the telephone jack restores the line so that the telephones work.  Plugging presto back into the telephone jack results in static on the line and makes the telephones unusuable.  It's as if presto did not hang up or is somehow taking over the line, except that presto also can't dial out to collect email.  A regular telephone works fine when plugged into the jack presto is using.

I've checked with the telephone company and they say the line is definitely analog.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

 Mark

I haven't heard of this before as you described it. We are looking into this. Please send me a private message with your user's @presto.com address so we can diagnose.

Everything is resolved. A very nice lady at Presto ran some diagnostics and fixed the problem. It took a day but it all works now.

Thanks!
