We just started our 90-year-old mom with the Presto service in December for her birthday.  We all love it.  My request is for more puzzles and mental challenge options to be made available.  Until then, could we have a place here to exchange free or low-charge subscription service ideas for good puzzle and joke sites?

I will make the first contribution as Mom loves to solve cryptograms and I love that it helps to keep her mind sharp.  I found a Daily Cryptogram site that is free, will e-mail a puzzle either daily or weekly and only ask for a donation if possible.  The address is:  http://www.dailycryptogram.com

I just set Mom up with it today and intend to give a donation after a week if it continues to deliver the right stuff.

Hope this can be of use to someone else out there.

Deb,

That's a fabulous idea.  Let's go ahead and use the thread you started as that location for people to share puzzle sources.

I found another site that will send a daily email with a word puzzle and a sudoku.  Here's the link: http://www.brainbashers.com/dailygubbins.asp

Anybody else have puzzle email feeds that might be enjoyed by Presto users?

I agree. The puzzles there now, especially the crossword, is too hard for my grandma...any chance we could get some find a word puzzles? She loves those!

There are a gazillion sites that have content you can schedule to send to your Presto user. We will look into different puzzle content, but one of the reasons we created the PDF and forward-scheduling capabilities of Presto was to allow you to find just the right content for your user and custom-publish your own! The content we provide in the Presto Newsstand costs Presto a lot, and so expanding the choices is difficult for us to do. We will look to see if more puzzles are possible, though.

Peter, thanks for your participation in these discussions! Can I offer some constructive criticisms though? We bought this for my parents, both in their early 80's. So far, we are 90% satisfied. The 10% negative pertains to the Newsstand content. You state the content cost's you a lot to provide. But most of it it useless and unnecessary for your target user, and a waste of money. Most of the Newsstand content seems geared to the 60-70 age range. Those aren't your users. I would guess that most of your users are 70-75 plus. They don't cook much, they don't (or can't) travel much. They don't do home improvement projects. They can't do gardening projects anymore. Yet most of your Newsstand content is geared toward that, completely useless. My suggestion is to cut out that stuff, save some money, and add stuff that people in their 80's can actually use and enjoy! A daily word search would be a good start.....
