Dear Jelly,
Presto is designed to not interrupt phone calls, but since phone line quality varies so greatly across the U.S., there isn't only one way that Presto operates in all situations. In answer to your question, if the phone is busy, Presto will just retrieve the email the next time it calls (i.e. the email will not be lost). Also, as the sender of an email, you are notified if an email cannot be delivered after a period of time goes by. And, as your parent's account manager, you can choose up to five different times a day for the HP Printing Mailbox to phone into the Presto service and retrieve mail. For people worried about phone line interruptions, you can choose early morning and late evening if those are the best times to avoid a problem. Also, your parents can always press the "stop" button on the HP Printing Mailbox if their phone line quality is such that the machine tries to dial while they are on the phone. It's pretty easy to manage one way or the other -- and for many people, it's not a problem at all. We get very few complaints about this.
Best of all, Presto carries a 60-day money back guarantee, so if they don't like it, you can have them pack it up and we will refund your entire purchase (if purchased through PrestoDirect). If you are interested in seeing more consumer comments than are posted on PrestoPlace, I suggest you read the consumer reviews at Amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/review/product/B000JERC8A/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?%5Fe...
