I saw one posting that indicated the "Ink Status" report did not work with 3rd party ink cartridges; has anyone found less costly cartridges that will properly register the status?

Most of us realize that HP makes money on their ink and other expendables, and at one cartridge per month, that is aboyt $420 per year on ink, more if we step-up the usage with more content.  (This may be one reason NOT to use "Presto Styles", because it accelerates the depletion of ink)...

Cutting the ink costs by 1/2 or even 1/3 would be welcome, but the ink status reporting is a major requirement for us; so we are on a quest for cheaper ink cartridges that also properly report their status.

I don't believe 3rd-party ink cartridges have the technology inside that the Presto Service can tap into to monitor and report ink status. Do remember, though, that the HP Printing Mailbox has an "Ink" indicator light on the machine itself, and it was designed to be easily replaceable by almost anyone.

Getting the best prints on your inkjet printer is usually comes determined by selecting the rght paper.

only buying a good quality printer doesn't solve your problem, but selection of right combination of photo paper and ink cartridge is also important.

If you haven't seen it, check out this article that a PrestoPlace member wrote:

It talks about taking Presto-friendly photos.
