I have an elderly single parent with an onset of mild dementia. My hope for the Presto Service is to be able to send her daily messages that will keep her mind active, and I believe that this service can help. She has already solved a number of the daily word jumble puzzles, and I would like to see other "mental exercise games" targeted at various levels that we could try... This is on top of the benefit that I can send her DAILY personal notes with family photos which helps to keep her recognition faculties alert...

I must say, though, I am deeply disappointed that the HP Mailbox only holds 50 pages of paper while the ink cartridge says it is capable of printing 300-plus pages. How much more would it have cost to have designed the device with a 1-ream paper capacity?... My fear is that my mother will not be able to load new paper every week or every other week, and that may be the show-stopper here.

If anyone develops an "engineering hack" that will expand the paper capacity, please post details! (Extra points if it doesn't void the warranty... Cool )

I completely agree!  But on the plus side, paper is easier to load than ink.  My grandma says she will feel comfortable loading paper but not ink.  I still wish she wouldn't have to do either, and I'm sure there are plenty of folks who will not be able to load paper on their own.

Well, when this device was designed simplicity was top priority. Being able to NOT require paper guides or a pull-out spring-loaded tray allowed it to be MUCH simpler to load paper -- and cost less, too. However, that was at the expense of requiring more frequent paper loading. It's a fine balance of design features and user needs. In your case, ElderCare, having a bigger paper capacity is what is needed. I don't think a hack will work for the HP Printing Mailbox, but your desire and concern are absolutely noted by our product team and we'll revisit this again when designing our next product.

You might look online - there are many sites that have daily e-mails of "stuff" - I get a daily CLEAN joke every week day from one site. Perhaps you can find one or two that have content that she would like and sign her up - for a daily newsletter or something like that.
